Telecom has announced it will launch new 4G services next month, to extend and accelerate the roll-out of high speed mobile broadband across New Zealand.

The new services will utilise spectrum in the 700 megahertz band that Telecom acquired in a recent Government auction.

Telecom now owns the largest block of that spectrum, which has enabled its expansion.

The new service will be launched in late August.

There are already some 4G services on another spectrum in New Zealand's main cities.

And companies are in the process of getting mobile broadband into more rural parts of the country.
