Telecom has officially changed its company name to Spark New Zealand.

Spark's managing director Simon Moutter says the Telecom name no longer reflected everything the company offers.

He says the company has been transforming over the last 18 months to keep up with changes in global communications.

And re-branding is the latest step in that process.

Spark has been known as Telecom for the past 27 years.
