Statistics New Zealand has released data that shows retail spending using electronic cards was flat in July.

118M transactions were made across all industries for the month, with an average spend of $51.

The three largest retail movements were durables, up $9.8M, consumables, up $5.4M and fuel, down $4.8M.

The total value of electronic card spending fell 0.1%.
