Dunedin secondary school pupils have proven themselves to be skilled poets, reading their work alongside some of the country's best at a recent event.

The teenage writers were part of the inaugural Dunedin Secondary Schools Poetry Competition, which culminated in a reading at the city library for National Poetry Day on Friday.
