Cycling and walking between Mosgiel and central Dunedin via a tunnel is one step closer to reality.

Work began a few weeks ago on the first stage of the Chain Hills side of a tunnel trail project.

And trust members are confident there will be light at the end of some of the city's fantastic Victorian infrastructure.
