Vehicles parked overnight in the central city are being broken into, and police are warning the public not to leave valuables inside.

Two unattended vehicles parked in Elm Row last night were broken into, with offenders smashing windows to gain entry.

Camera gear was stolen from inside one of the vehicles, but nothing was reported missing from the other car.

Police are investigating the incidents.

The theft of items from cars is an ongoing issue in Dunedin.

Vehicle owners are advised to remove all valuables from cars before locking them.
