Re-Orientation is in full swing with thousands of students attending events to celebrate the start of the second semester.

Despite huge crowds at each event, those organising the gigs and the city's emergency services say this year, behaviour's been good.

And the student's association says it's taken a proactive approach in terms of safety, to ensure the event has a future in Dunedin.
