Rugby fans are being given a chance to get up close and personal with the Highlanders' trophy.

It's the prize for the team's historic victory in last weekend's Super Rugby final.

The trophy is being taken on a tour across Otago, starting at the end of this week.

There's huge demand from rugby fans for photos with the trophy and that's prompted the tour.

However, no Highlanders will travel with the trophy, due to player commitments.
