The inaugural New Zealand International Early Music Festival is well under way in the city.

Audiences have been treated to a variety of Western European music, reflecting Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

And organisers say showcasing 1000 years of music in just one week can only be described as something similar to putting together a jigsaw.
