Otago's next crop of cricketing stars may be getting an advantage over some of their northern rivals.

Black Cap Nathan McCullum is running a coaching clinic with some of the region's top talent.

And although many of them haven't put the pads on since summer, the coach feels this is the best time of year to hone their skills.
