Members of the Dunedin public have joined people around the world in commemorating the 69th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

A peace vigil was held in the central city to mark the solemn occasion.

And organisers had a message of hope and peace to share with those in attendance.
